MINI BIO: maybe the most telling thing about him is that, despite distrusting the tech, he volunteered for a neural implant back in the day, all in the name of science. neuroscience researcher before the fall, introvert energy but tends to Have A Presence anyway, probably will end up being the guy who will fondly roast you for bad choices and mess

i think department lead is a newish role for him, unless someone has a reason he should've been in it longer? he's never really thought of himself as a team leader, but oh well

IDEAS/LINES:
• friends!!!! esp a few close ones, if anyone wants to deal with his particular brand of affection
• folks he helped train or mentor??? either unofficially or officially. he's got kind of.....fun uncle vibes?

Well Carl here very friendly and they are both scientist leads so he is like very please be friends with me.

Archie is very new on board in the last 5ish months or so. And uh they are roomies it seems haha. He is very young and figuring out his emotions after spending most of his life with the implant.

them being roomies is actually too funny to me. les had lots more experience with emotions before getting implanted so he didn't have quite the same experience with his emotions that the youth probably do BUT that being said he's absolutely all in on helping the youth figure that shit out

taryn stayonscript is the most relevant as she has been around dislinked for 18 years. she is fond of all the old timers even if she is a little sharp with them sometimes so i imagine she likes lesley too! she was also one of the early TIFs that were recruited so maybe he could've like. studied her brain at some point in time

thennnn sefi backdrive has been on the ship for like five years. she's very sociable and friendly if a lil awkward so i'm sure they've encountered one another

and apollo is new here as of 3 weeks ago so idk about him

he would have definitely LOVED the opportunity to study her brain. tho i haven't tossed him into the fray yet, my heart tells me that he sometimes veers into "little sharp" territory, but generally not with intention to be there. so anyway: i feel like he'd be a fan of Taryn

probably they've encountered each other!! his social skills are such that even though lesley has no concept of feeling awkward he probably makes many a conversation awkward so 🤝 and also a fan of engineers in general

hi gia! i feel like lesley probably likes philip's vibes and they've probably had plenty of time to get acquainted, even though idk for exactly how long les has been department lead. and les adores + respects engineers for being the folks who get in there and make the things go on a v practical level

HIII! This is Lyss and I have only one here. This is Sloane. She's a pilot and she's been on the ship an entire week after 18 years Veiled, so she is in the strange period of time where she doesn't consider herself a person, just sort of a weapon to Point. She's fine, though.

So maybe not (yet!) any personal connections with Lesley! But she's fascinated secretly by the chip science and equal parts is about 2 seconds away from begging all the neuro implant people to just get hers out of her head so she very well might bother him. Hopefully not to that extent but maybe.

hi rachael!! we looove a grump in this house. maybe they've known each other in passing for awhile and when they got upgraded to leader they... idk if it's commiserating but found some common ground figuring out how to adjust?

hi chelsea! this is rae, i have three:

most relevant is likely niko novak (this journal), who is the lead of dreamscape and a former recruiter. he was also promoted somewhat recently! he's been around 18 years total! i think they should be pals! however, i think lesley makes him feel somewhat insecure because he doesn't have a science background at all and didn't even go to university. very on the job training and fake it til you make it over here.

i also have lola (clandestinity) over in espionage in information. she fancies herself a very flirtatious little spy and will, unfortunately, probably flirt with him. i also have fox (jinking) who is a very earnest and green pilot who is also a TIF! i don't know what will come of that, if anything, but he's very friendly.

i fully encourage lola in this 😌 and there's something so charming about fox's enthusiasm and earnestness?? which honestly lesley really respects for so many reasons (partially probably because he grew up around folks who were anything but)
