INTROS MEME 3

TRUTH FLIP SKIP

once your character has intro'd on the recent post, comment below with your character's name in the subject line. (Previously intro'd characters can join in on 1/14 so that this crop of intros has the spotlight.) Anyone with a pending app can reply with a direct question, and your character can answer with the TRUTH, say SKIP to skip the question, or FLIP the question back on them. do try for only one SKIP per thread, though there isn't actual meme police.

nothing is considered Canon unless agreed upon by all involved parties.

If you could make one adjustment to the rules of checkers, what would it be?

You’re allowed to refrain from performing a mandatory jump without consequence once a game.

Sorry, I'm not a chess expert. What is a mandatory jump, and what are the consequences of refusing it?

Checkers, not chess.

In standard play, if you have the chance to jump your opponent’s piece, you have to. If you don’t jump the piece and they notice, they get to take your piece.

Ah, right. Apologies. I'm more into card games than board games.

Hmmm. Interesting. I like a little subterfuge, personally.

It’s alright. Which is your game of choice?

Yes, I do enjoy setting people up to unintentionally fall into a multi-jump situation. Oftentimes it’s more likely to happen if you don’t jump at first opportunity.

Poker.

I know people say checkers is less challenging than chess, but you're saying it relies on quick observations and reactions.

Will you teach me?

I am, yes.

I think they say that because people have the misconception that checkers is a direct precursor to chess, which it isn’t. They evolved separately, they just use the same 8x8 board.
