I think that’s a defensive stance to take when most wouldn’t be aiming to barb, but to be honest with you. Say you were late for a prior commitment and were told that the person left waiting wished you had been on time. That’s not sharpening themselves against you, it’s telling you how they felt, but it could make you more aware of the time.
